Apartments With Character
Historic Shaker Heights is known locally and nationally for it's world class, distinctive houses and apartment buildings.  The award winning, much written about South Shaker is among, if not the best, example of old world architecture in Shaker Heights.  Character is the first thought that comes to mind when entering the landscaped courtyard, into the elegant foyers with faux sandstone walls and dark oak woodwork.  Many hours of thoughtful planning and execution have gone into the restoration of the exterior, common areas, and the suites of The South Shaker.

About The Apartments
The suites at The South Shaker range from a 910 square foot, one bedroom to 2600 square foot four bedroom.  Many of the suites are two story with dramatic staircase and vaulted ceilings, unexpected drama in apartment living that can only be described as breathtaking.  Most suites feature remodeled kitchen, dishwasher, disposal, central air, wood burning fireplace, carpet or hardwood floors, and large windows.

Available Suites
Many people start looking well in advance of their need for an apartment.  Apartment size, price range, amenities, timing, and location all go into considering just the right space to call home.  Photos, floor plans and more are available to assist you in your search.  Available suites at The South Shaker can be seen by appointment, seven days a week, by calling our Resident Manager at 216-921-1930, or email at Manager@Southshaker.com.

What's It Like To Make Your Home Here?
Underground heated garage with car wash area, two laundry rooms, and ample storage compliment the well appointed suites.  The South Shaker is convenient to local neighborhood grocery, drugstore, library, hardware, bookstores, banks, city hall, Shaker community center and restaurants of many cultures.  We are also conveniently located only a half block from the Ashby rapid stop for a short ride to downtown Cleveland and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

What's To Do In The Area?
There's lots to do in the area.  Before heading out, we recommend stopping to see Rick and the crew at Kokopelli's Tea and Coffee, our favorite place to catch up on local news while enjoying a great cup of coffee.  Sports are big in Cleveland.  High school college and professional sports supply you with all the action.  The Browns, Indians, Cavaliers, Lumberjacks and Crunch make Cleveland their home.

The South Shaker is within minutes of the grand theaters of Playhouse Square, Cleveland Art Museum, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Science museum, Severence Hall... newly restored home of the renowned Cleveland Orchestra and many more cultural and entertainment spots.   The summer brings Lake Erie to life with endless possibilities of sailing, boating, fishing, swimming, or just plain gazing at the magnificent power and beauty of such an amazing body of water. Cleveland and surrounding areas also have thousands of acres of parks including the Shaker Lakes and Emerald Necklace to provide you with ample opportunity to commune with nature in a safe, clean environment close to home.

The grounds are constantly being improved.  In the summer of 2001 benches will be added to the central courtyard for quite reading or just visiting with nature among the many varieties of perennials that surround you.   The picnic area is also being improved with additional seating, brick walkways, and improved landscaping for summer barbeques and picnics.
